Purdue’s cooperative housing thumped the overall Greek GPA last spring.

According to a press release, the cooperative housing system had an overall GPA of 3.01. The overall Greek GPA was 2.93.

Audra Roach, president of the Purdue Cooperative Council, said the 422 cooperative members were proud of the hard work that went into their spring semester grades.

“The numbers represent a growing trend in academic success by cooperative residents, and we are proud of all the hard work our members are putting in to their education,” Roach said. “In addition to the promotion of friendship, leadership and life skills, cooperative housing also produces a strong commitment to preparing students for the real world.”

Kevin Ferris, executive director of scholarship for Purdue Cooperative Council, said each house has their own standards for grades.

“(Standards) go from mandatory study tables to studying on one’s own, but each has a scholastic chairperson to monitor the academic progress of each house,” he said.

With 12 total houses, 5 male and 7 female, Ferris said the cooperative system was proud even of those in the lower rankings of GPAs.

“We’re pretty satisfied with the GPAs of both the top and bottom houses,” he said.

In first place for men, there was a three-way tie between Circle Pines, Fairway and Gemini, with 2.87. The lowest house in the men’s division was Marwood, with 2.53. The highest women’s house was Twin Pines, with 3.31, and the lowest was Devonshire, with 2.75.
