The Purdue Board of Trustees have recommended a 4.5 increase in tuition each of the next two years.

The University is having a public hearing on the increase at 4 p.m. on May 17 in Stewart Center Room 326.

The new fee structure would result in a $320 increase in the 2007-08 year for most resident students on the West Lafayette campus.

Funds generated by the proposed fee increases will be used to defray a portion of increasing costs for faculty and staff salaries, student financial aid, insurance, technology, utilities and initiatives outlined in the campuses' strategic plans.
