The Lafayette Area Peace Coalition staged an anti-war protest Friday evening.

The coalition, joined by student groups like the Purdue Organization for Labor Equality, marched up Columbia Street in Lafayette, around City Hall, and back up South Street.

About midway through the walking protest, the group stopped on the steps of City Hall for a rally.

“We are marching in solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the country,” said Harry Targ, professor of political science. There was also a counter-protest, held by Purdue’s College Republicans.

“We support the president whole-heartedly,” said Jared Bond, chairman of the student organization. “What they’re doing is unpatriotic.”
